EMEC is the foremost global facility for demonstrating and testing wave and tidal energy technologies in marine environments. Located in Orkney, the center is also involved in R&D projects on green hydrogen, floating wind, and the decarbonization of maritime and aviation industries.

We are eager to hear from individuals with the following expertise who are interested in contributing to the energy transition and a sustainable energy future. We look forward to engaging with parties whether you are seeking a full-time contract or prefer to contribute to projects on a casual basis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of EMEC’s synthetic fuels strategy and services.
- Investigate and evaluate chemical, energy systems, and synthetic fuel focused R&D and technical work on EMEC projects.
- Deliver technical, economic, and market feasibility studies and demonstration projects to progress alternative fuels research and development including supporting technologies such as direct air capture and direct ocean capture.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documents involving data analysis and interpretation, performing calculations, and creating tools to support existing and emerging standards.
- Collaborate closely with EMEC’s business development team, aiding in new bids and funding opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical or scientific field (e.g. chemical, process, industrial, or engineering), preferably related to hydrogen or synthetic fuels.
- Strong communication, numerical skills, and a commitment to safety.
- Experience in renewable energy, energy systems, hydrogen, and/or alternative fuel technologies.
