Belgium’s Smulders Awards E&I Contract to ProCon for Hollandse Kust West VI Venture
Belgium-based Smulders has awarded an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) contract to ProCon, a Danish firm, for the Hollandse Kust West VI offshore wind farm, which is being developed by the Ecowende consortium within the Netherlands.
The contract entails ProCon’s tasks for the pre-assembly, outfitting, testing, and chilly commissioning of 52 suspended inside platforms (SIPs) and 52 exterior platforms meant for the wind turbine foundations.
This part of the mission will probably be executed at Smulders’ services positioned in Hoboken and Balen, Belgium, with operations scheduled to start within the first quarter of 2025.
In December 2022, Shell and Eneco secured the event rights for Hollandse Kust West VI. Previous to this, Japan’s Chubu Electrical Energy Firm acquired a 30% stake within the mission from Eneco, enhancing the worldwide collaboration on this initiative.
The offshore wind farm will probably be located roughly 53 kilometers off the coast of IJmuiden and is predicted to generate sufficient electrical energy to produce roughly 3% of the Netherlands’ present electrical energy demand.
Van Oord has been contracted to deal with the transportation and set up of the foundations, in addition to the design, procurement, and set up of the interconnecting cables between the generators.
The wind farm will include 54 wind generators and is projected to begin operations in 2026.
