Jason Grumet, Head of the American Clear Energy Association (ACP), released a statement concerning President Trump’s Executive Order on offshore and onshore wind leasing and permitting:
“President Trump rightly claims that without significant modifications to our energy policy, the United States will struggle to support the growth of manufacturing and attain digital competitiveness essential for national security, all while attempting to lower consumer energy expenses. The ACP wholeheartedly supports President Trump’s effort to simplify the permitting process to expedite the development of all forms of domestic energy resources. Our member companies are ready to create hundreds of thousands of new positions, as was achieved during the previous Trump Administration.”
“The ACP firmly rejects sweeping measures that may obstruct or impede the advancement of domestic wind energy on federal lands and waters. The contradictory nature of the energy-driven Executive Orders is evident: while the Administration seeks to lessen bureaucratic impediments and encourage energy production, it simultaneously imposes new bureaucratic barriers that undermine domestic energy development and endanger American enterprises and workers.”
“The possibility that the federal government might actively oppose energy production by American companies on private land contradicts both our national ethos and our long-term interests.”
“We have witnessed erratic policy constraints regarding energy resource development across our extensive federal lands for far too long. Regardless of the Administration, such approaches do not align with effective energy policy. Achieving energy dominance is impossible without a consistent strategy that transcends partisan disputes concerning energy systems.”
“Wind energy is crucial to fulfilling the rising electricity demand from manufacturing and data centers, which are vital for national security. Moreover, wind energy is increasingly integrated into energy systems across states with diverse political affiliations. Notably, eight of the top ten states relying on wind power supported President Trump, with many utilizing wind for a significant portion of their electricity requirements. Restricting wind energy development in these regions is expected to increase consumer energy costs. Additionally, wind energy development supports over 300,000 jobs in fields such as construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding, and facility operations. Offshore wind projects are revitalizing the U.S. supply chain, restoring domestic shipbuilding capabilities, and promoting economic growth through billions in new investments.”
“While we acknowledge that improvements are necessary, the ACP is dedicated to collaborating with the Administration to provide insights and data that emphasize the positive contributions of wind energy to our nation’s economic development and security.”
