An electronics professional and seasoned power plant specialist, Ajay Anant Konnur boasts more than 34 years of experience in the management and upkeep of large-scale thermal and hydroelectric power stations, which includes pumped storage facilities (PSFs). During his journey, he has held numerous positions in thermal and hydropower plants, eventually rising to the role of station chief. Significantly, Konnur has adeptly directed the upgrade of obsolete control systems, transitioning from conventional hardwired, discrete card-based technologies to advanced Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). This shift has markedly enhanced operational effectiveness and plant dependability.
“A significant milestone in my professional journey was my role in the commissioning of Asia’s inaugural 150 MW pumped storage unit at Tata Power’s Bhira generating facility in Maharashtra in 1995,” Konnur expresses.
Konnur is presently responsible for managing all of Tata Power’s hydroelectric facilities within the Mumbai licensing zone. He plays a vital part in the progression of the company’s 2.8 GW pumped hydro expansion initiative at Bhivpuri and Shirwata.
