Bahía de Cochinos, Cuba, 20071123

Posting some more old stuff.

This is Bahía de Cochinos, some 400km SE of Havana. This is diving heaven. I haven an Open Water license but I didn’t do lot of diving in my life. By far the best experience was right here on the south side of Cuba. Water was ultra clear. Coral and fish everywhere!

We stayed in Playa Giron and walked over to the diving centre. My friend didn’t have a diving license but as long you have money, that doesn’t really matter. You want to dive? Here is a tank, go dive. It’s your life.

In our group a couple from Norway and some veterans from Argentina. We had to load the tanks in the walking path of an old American schoolbus and we drove for like 15 minutes. The drive was awesome: fanastic weather and temperature, all windows open, everyone was chilling and the chauffeur (sucking on a Churchill) was driving the bus like he was in the Indy 500. My friend and I looked at each other and without saying anything we thought the same thing: if we crash, we all gonna die. What can you do, you’re on holiday. Not a bad place to die. There was energy in the air and we were all ready for some adventure.

We arrived at this place. Only one instructor but he didn’t really pay attention. It was very relaxed. Everybody just did their thing.
