Cadeler’s latest wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) Wind Peak has arrived in Rotterdam and, according to its owner, is primed to commence its initial mobilization for a client.
“It has been 73 days since our new Cadeler wind installation vessel set sail from the shipyard in Qidong and embarked on its first maritime journey. Since then, it has traversed over 14,000 nautical miles, making stops in Singapore, Cape Town, Las Palmas, and now, Rotterdam,” Cadeler stated in a social media update on 14 November.
The company received Wind Peak, its first P-class jack-up installation vessel, from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry’s shipyard in Qidong, China, in August. In October, Cadeler signed contracts with Polenergia and Equinor to install wind turbines at the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in Poland, planning to deploy both an O-class and a P-class vessel for the task.
The Wind Peak vessel is designed to operate in some of the most challenging offshore installation conditions worldwide and to manage the largest wind turbine components available in the industry, as noted by Cadeler.
The WTIV is capable of transporting and installing seven complete 15 MW turbine units or 5 units of 20+ MW generators per trip.
Wind Peak features a deck area of 5,600 square meters, a payload capacity exceeding 17,600 tonnes, and a primary crane capacity of over 2,500 tonnes at 53 meters. The vessel is equipped to accommodate up to 130 crew members and installation technicians.
COSCO shipyard is currently constructing another P-class vessel for Cadeler, named Wind Tempo, which is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025.
