Ingeteam has declared that the Hawaiian solar + storage venture Hale Kuawehi is now functioning. The firm has finalized the commissioning tasks for the eleven inverter power stations provided for Innergex Renewable Energy.
This 30-MW solar and 120-MWh storage initiative, situated in the community of Waimea, will supply energy to approximately 14,600 Hawaiian residences.
“It is incredibly fulfilling for Ingeteam to assist Hawaii’s aspiration of achieving 100% renewable and fossil fuel-free energy with our technology. We value the trust from Innergex in allowing us this chance to support a more resilient and sustainable grid,” stated Nohra Nasr, VP and general manager of Ingeteam’s photovoltaic and BESS divisions in the U.S.
The electricity produced by this initiative will be purchased over the next 25 years by the local utility, Hawaii Electric Light Company (HECO), via a long-term power purchase agreement.
