Luxcara has granted foundation design contracts to the German engineering firm Jörss-Blunck-Ordemann (JBO) for its Waterkant and Waterekke offshore wind facilities located in the German exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
For Waterkant, JBO will serve as the foundation designer for Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed engineering.
Regarding the Waterekke initiative, Luxcara has chosen JBO to offer geotechnical expertise and foundation design services during the FEED and detailed design stages.
Recently, Luxcara assigned a contract to Geoquip Marine to undertake the primary geotechnical assessment for its Waterekke offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The company secured the right to develop the 1.5 GW project in the 2024 offshore wind auction. The N-9.3 location is situated roughly 85 kilometers northwest of the German island of Helgoland.
Additionally, the firm is in the process of constructing the up to 270 MW Waterkant offshore wind farm, located about 90 kilometers from Borkum Island. This wind farm will incorporate 16 turbines, each rated at 18.5 MW, provided by China’s Mingyang Smart Energy.
Upon its completion, the project is anticipated to produce sufficient renewable energy to supply approximately 400,000 households in Germany.
