$1B: Series D for Home Battery Manufacturing and Grid-Scale Deployment
Base Power has closed a $1 billion Series D at a $13 billion post-money valuation, taking its total capital raised to more than $2.5 billion since founding in 2023. The Austin-based company used the announcement to launch Base Core, a 39.2 kWh (78.4 kWh in a two-unit configuration) home battery designed and built at its Austin factory, engineered to install in under an hour and support the grid alongside backing up homes. The round was led by Ribbit, Addition, Valor Equity Partners, and JPMorganChase’s Strategic Investment Group, with existing investors Thrive Capital, a16z, and Lightspeed also participating. Base has grown its managed battery fleet past 500 MWh across Texas and Illinois through utility partnerships with El Paso Electric, Austin Energy, and CoServ. Press release.
$750M: Series G for Iron-Air Battery Manufacturing Scale-Up
Form Energy has secured $750 million in Series G financing led by T. Rowe Price, bringing its total equity raised to over $2 billion. The West Virginia-based company will use the funds to accelerate manufacturing at its Form 1 factory in Weirton and advance commercial deployments of its iron-air “multi-day” batteries, which can discharge continuously for up to 100 hours. New investors Sequoia Capital, Janus Henderson, Franklin Templeton, and PEAK6 Investments joined the round, which follows Form Energy’s expansion of its project backlog from roughly 20 GWh to 80 GWh, including agreements with Google, Crusoe, Xcel Energy, and FuturEnergy Ireland. Press release.
$550M: Series C for Thermal Battery Production
Antora Energy has closed an oversubscribed $550 million Series C co-led by G2 Venture Partners and Eclipse, with new investors including Ribbit Capital, Salesforce Ventures, Activate Capital, John Doerr, Westly Group, StepStone Group, and Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures. The San Jose-based company’s thermal batteries store low-cost electricity as heat in insulated blocks of solid carbon, delivering it around the clock as heat or power for industrial facilities and data centers. The capital will fund large-scale project deployments, expand production capacity, and establish a second U.S. manufacturing hub, building on Antora’s recent 5 GWh thermal battery deployment at a POET bioprocessing facility in South Dakota. Press release.
$100M: Series B for Solid-State Lithium Metal Battery Production
Xinjie Energy, a Chinese manufacturer of solid-state lithium metal batteries founded in 2020, has raised $100 million in a Series B round. The company’s core technology pairs oxide solid electrolytes with lithium metal anodes for applications spanning energy storage, aerospace, consumer electronics, and electric vehicles. Xinjie has been building out a factory in the Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone and has lined up materials-supply partnerships, including a lithium metal agreement with Tiantie Technology worth close to 300 million yuan. Press release.
$43M: Series A for Iron-Air Long-Duration Storage’s First Factory
Ore Energy, an Amsterdam-based startup, has raised $43 million in a Series A round led by Plural and HV Capital, with participation from Positron Ventures, bringing its total funding to $61 million. The company’s iron-air batteries store electricity for up to 100 hours by oxidizing and de-oxidizing iron electrodes — effectively harnessing the reversible rusting of iron — at a targeted cost of under $20/kWh. The funding will go toward building Ore Energy’s first large-scale manufacturing facility as it works to address a long-duration storage gap that the European Commission estimates wastes tens of terawatt-hours of renewable energy annually. Press release.
$19M: Series B for Hybrid-Electric Aircraft Certification
Ampaire has closed a $19 million Series B round led by DiamondStream Partners. Backers included the venture arms of two major airlines—Alaska Star Ventures and IAGi Ventures—alongside Techstars Ventures, the Autodesk Foundation Impact Fund, and others. The Long Beach, California, company is developing the AMP-H570 integrated parallel hybrid-electric propulsion system and the Eco Caravan, a hybrid retrofit of the Cessna Grand Caravan that has demonstrated roughly 54-57% lower fuel burn in flight testing; the capital will support Part 33 engine certification and expand manufacturing and supply chain capacity. Press release.
$15.5M: Series A for Non-Flammable, Non-Lithium Battery Cells
Cosmos Lab, a South Korean battery cell maker, has secured roughly 22 billion won (about $15.5 million) in Series A funding from domestic and international institutional and strategic investors, including Smilegate Investment. The company develops aqueous zinc-halogen batteries aimed at the AI data center and grid energy storage system markets and is conducting joint development work with SoftBank on mass production of its cells. Proceeds will strengthen domestic R&D and build out reproducibility and productivity for large-capacity cell manufacturing, with certification work targeted at ESS and AI data center environments. Press release.
$5.9M: Series A for Solid-State Battery Development
Keyuan Solid Energy, a Shanghai-based solid-state battery developer and a subsidiary of Shanghai Xiba Science & Technology, has raised roughly $5.9 million in a Series A round. The company is part of China’s fast-growing solid-state battery sector, which has drawn a wave of new financing this year as manufacturers race to move from lab-scale samples toward vehicle-grade and industrial production. The new capital is earmarked for uses tied to Keyuan’s core solid-state battery business, including fixed-asset investment commitments linked to a project site in Liandu (Lishui). Press release.
