DEME Secures Major Contract for Zeevonk Offshore Wind Farm

DEME has successfully obtained a second significant contract for the initial phase of the Zeevonk offshore wind farm project, situated in the Dutch North Sea. This new contract involves the transportation and installation of 69 wind turbines, complementing their previously awarded scope for foundation installation.

This contract enhances DEME’s role in the approximately 1GW offshore project, which is a collaborative venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).

The agreement includes the transportation and installation of the turbines using DEME’s next-generation jack-up installation vessel, Norse Energi. Although DEME has stated that the contract is substantial, it has opted not to disclose its financial details.

The Zeevonk project, co-owned by Vattenfall and CIP via its Energy Investment Fund I, is designed to achieve a total installed capacity of approximately 1GW.

Installation Schedule for Zeevonk

Mobilization for the turbine installation phase is anticipated to commence in 2028, with offshore installation operations expected to follow shortly thereafter. The completion of the overall project is projected for 2029.

The wind farm site is located between 63 km and 84 km offshore from Bergen aan Zee along the Dutch North Sea coast.

In July 2026, DEME also secured a separate contract for foundation installation at the Zeevonk site. Together, these contracts assign DEME responsibilities for both the foundation and turbine installation aspects of the project.

It is important to note that the project remains contingent upon a final investment decision, meaning that the construction timeline has not yet been fully confirmed.
