Fugro has agreed to acquire a minority shareholding in Dutch software developer DTACT, strengthening its digital and artificial intelligence capabilities as demand grows for advanced data intelligence across the energy, infrastructure and water sectors.
The investment builds on an existing partnership between the two companies, established in 2025, to develop an integrated platform combining geospatial information, satellite intelligence and other data sources. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to Fugro, the investment is intended to accelerate the development of scalable data intelligence solutions that enable customers to process complex datasets more efficiently and support operational decision-making. The collaboration also targets applications related to security, resilience and situational awareness.
DTACT develops the FUSION platform, which enables organisations to collect, integrate and analyse information from multiple sources within a single environment. The software is designed to operate across different secure IT infrastructures, including cloud-based systems and isolated networks.
Fugro deepens DTACT partnership
Fugro said the investment aligns with its strategy of expanding its digital services and AI-driven capabilities by transforming Geo-data and related information into operational intelligence.
Group Director Strategy and Technology Wim Herijgers said many organisations already have access to large volumes of data, but increasingly face the challenge of converting that information into reliable insights quickly. He said DTACT’s technology complements Fugro’s expertise by enabling faster interpretation of multiple data streams without increasing the complexity of customers’ IT environments.
DTACT’s management said the transaction will support the company’s international growth while allowing it to remain operationally independent. Chief executive and co-founder Sander Swinkels said Fugro’s expertise in Geo-data and operational environments has been instrumental in developing the partnership, while the new shareholding will help expand the company’s market reach.
Chief technology officer and DTACT’s co-founder Remco Verhoef added that the collaboration will support further development of the FUSION platform for defence and enterprise applications while maintaining the flexibility and independence valued by customers.
Completion of the transaction is expected before mid-October, subject to customary closing conditions. Following completion, DTACT will continue to operate independently, with Fugro gaining the right to appoint a member to the company’s Advisory Board. Source: Fugro Image: own – offshore wind farm
