SunVest Solar, a firm specializing in distributed renewable energy initiatives within the United States, has finalized construction on a 19.5 MW solar initiative at Charter Steel’s production site in Saukville, Wisconsin.
This groundbreaking project stands as the largest behind-the-meter solar installation in the state, ensuring that Charter Steel – the largest single energy consumer in Wisconsin – will manufacture steel utilizing clean energy.
The initiative incorporates nearly 30,000 solar energy panels and is intended to supply Charter Steel with a significant share of its energy requirements, aiding Charter Manufacturing’s goals to minimize its environmental footprint and decrease its operational expenses.
“We are excited to have reached this important milestone in Wisconsin’s renewable energy sphere,” states Bram Walters, CEO of SunVest Solar. “This venture builds upon our extensive legacy in Wisconsin and establishes a new standard for behind-the-meter solar in the state. It demonstrates how solar energy can empower enterprises to take charge of their energy future”
“We take pride in incorporating renewable energy into our operations through this collaboration with SunVest Solar,” comments Joel Casterton, president of Charter Steel. “This cutting-edge project exemplifies our dedication to sustainability and excellence in operations while reinforcing our position as a responsible leader in the steel sector.”
