Dutch company IBIS Power has installed its PowerNEXT modular rooftop energy system on top of the The Social Hub hotel in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

The modular rooftop system combines wind turbines with solar panels in an integrated structure designed for buildings with higher energy demand than conventional local generation systems can accommodate.

The project received approval from the municipality of Eindhoven in 2023. Installation required several months of preparation because of the site’s location alongside the busy railway station and the constraints associated with carrying out heavy lifting operations in a densely used urban area.

Eight PowerNEXT (previously known as PowerNEST) modules were lifted into position at approximately 75 metres above street level. The operation involved several parties and was carried out within a tightly coordinated schedule, according to IBIS Power.

Second installation in Eindhoven

The installation marks the second deployment of the technology in Eindhoven, where the system was developed. The first local installation has been operating on the Haasje Over residential building since 2022.
