NTPC Limited has officially announced the commencement of commercial operations for an additional 56.7 MW wind power capacity in Gujarat, facilitated through its renewable energy subsidiaries. This update was communicated to both BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, adhering to SEBI regulatory requirements.
The new capacities became operational as of midnight on September 22, 2026. This expansion includes a 6.3 MW fourth-phase capacity of the Vanki Wind Energy Project located in Nakhatrana, Kutch district, and a 50.4 MW first-phase capacity of the Jamjodhpur Wind Energy Project in Jamnagar district.
Both projects contribute to a larger framework of developing a total of 1,050 MW of wind power under the 500 MW REMCL Round-the-Clock (RTC) Project initiative. These projects are being executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited operating under NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
With the addition of these capacities, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has been enhanced to 91,221 MW, while the operational capacity has reached 90,141 MW. This expansion significantly bolsters NTPC Green Energy and its associated entities’ renewable energy portfolio.
The installed capacity of NGEL has now risen to 10,977.23 MW, with its commercial capacity at 10,920.53 MW. This latest wind power addition reinforces NTPC’s footprint in Gujarat, which is a key region for renewable energy development in India.
The formal declaration of commercial operations was submitted as per the regulatory disclosure obligations by the respective companies. This capacity expansion aligns with NTPC Group’s commitment to enhancing its renewable energy generation portfolio, continuing its investments in wind, solar, and other sustainable energy projects across India.
