Suzlon is transitioning from a specialized wind Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to a comprehensive renewable energy solutions provider, emphasizing wind technology. The Suzlon 2.0 initiative is underpinned by a restructured business model that includes Wind-First Full-Stack Renewable Energy Technologies, Renewable Energy Development Company (RE DevCo), Renewable Energy Projects, and Renewable Energy Asset Management. This integrated platform is designed to facilitate large-scale renewable energy deployment with enhanced speed, reliability, affordability, and intelligent energy solutions.

Suzlon 2.0: FY31 Objectives

As part of its transformative growth strategy, Suzlon aims to evolve into one of the world’s most integrated renewable energy firms. By FY31, the company plans to increase its annual renewable energy sales fourfold to 10 GW, expand its order book to 15 GW, and quadruple its Assets Under Management (AUM) to 70 GW, establishing a robust annuity-based business model. This growth strategy anticipates capturing approximately 40% of India’s wind market share, securing 3 GW in export orders, and shifting towards a higher-value product mix, with an estimated 60% volume contribution from RE DevCo.

Comprehensive Wind-First Renewable Energy Solutions

Suzlon is positioned as India’s first full-stack renewable energy provider, offering a complete range of technologies, including Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Energy Management Services via a consolidated delivery framework. The company aims to achieve 10 GW in annual renewable sales by FY31, establishing itself as a long-term trusted partner for clients’ renewable energy needs. In the wind sector, Suzlon plans to innovate with advanced turbine technologies while adopting an asset-light model in solar by leveraging ecosystem partnerships to address challenges related to fragmented renewable procurement and execution.

Wind Energy

Wind energy remains the cornerstone of Suzlon’s growth strategy, with a target of maintaining approximately 40% market share in India and achieving 3 GW in export order intake by FY31. This growth will be driven by the ‘BlueSky’ product platform, which features next-generation high-capacity turbines such as the S175 (5 MW) and S163 (6.3 MW), alongside a robust portfolio ranging from 2 MW to over 6 MW.

Energy Storage Solutions

Suzlon is advancing into intelligent Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enhance the reliability, dispatchability, and grid compatibility of renewable energy. The company plans to establish a dedicated BESS manufacturing facility by 2027, focusing on solutions designed specifically for Indian grid conditions. This initiative aims to address challenges related to renewable energy intermittency and grid reliability.

Renewable Energy Development Company (RE DevCo)

RE DevCo is India’s first integrated co-development platform designed to transform renewable potential into actionable, execution-ready sites at scale. By fostering long-term partnerships (3-5 years), this platform accelerates the development of renewable energy portfolios through comprehensive capabilities in land acquisition, grid connectivity, regulatory approvals, and project execution. Leveraging 30 years of experience in wind energy, RE DevCo addresses one of the sector’s main challenges: project readiness and time-to-market.

Renewable Energy Projects

Suzlon is enhancing its Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) capabilities to deliver integrated Wind, Solar, and BESS projects with improved speed, quality, and predictability. This focus aims to mitigate execution challenges, reduce project delays, and enhance delivery assurance.

Renewable Energy Asset Management Services

The company aspires to grow its assets under management to 70 GW by FY31, creating a significant annuity-driven business. Suzlon is expanding its asset management services across wind, solar, hybrid, and multi-brand portfolios, employing digital solutions and a nationwide service network to optimize asset performance throughout their lifecycle. This initiative addresses the challenge of ensuring long-term reliability, efficiency, and returns from renewable energy investments.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, stated, “As the world undergoes a super-cycle of electrification, Suzlon 2.0 is designed to collaborate with customers and nations to expedite the energy transition. We deliver energy security through reliable and affordable wind-first, full-stack renewable solutions spanning from concept to commissioning and lifetime asset management. In the next five years, we aim to grow our renewable fleet under management by fourfold to reach 70 GW and achieve annual RE sales of 10 GW.”

Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, remarked, “RE DevCo will drive the growth of Suzlon 2.0. As India’s first integrated renewable energy co-development platform, it is crafted to tackle industry challenges by enhancing project readiness, scale, and reducing time-to-market. We aim to achieve a 60% volume contribution from RE DevCo while targeting a 40% market share in India’s wind sector, alongside a goal of 15 GW in the RE order book and 3 GW in export orders by FY31.”

Dharini Mishra, Chief Brand and Reputation Officer of Suzlon Group, commented, “The world requires not only more clean energy but also energy that is effective. As energy increasingly becomes a foundation for economic growth and societal progress, both reliability and sustainability are paramount.”
