BayWa r.e. has successfully completed the sale of two wind energy projects in Poland and Italy, totaling nearly 80 MW in capacity, thereby enhancing its contributions to Europe’s renewable energy objectives.
In Poland, BayWa r.e. sold the 30 MW Kamionka Wind Farm to ENGIE Zielona Energia, the Polish division of the ENGIE Group. This wind farm, located in the West Pomeranian Province, has been operational since 2012 and consists of 12 turbines, each rated at 2.5 MW. The facility is capable of generating sufficient electricity to power more than 27,000 households, significantly bolstering the country’s renewable energy supply.
BayWa r.e. managed the Kamionka project throughout its operational lifespan, overseeing both technical and commercial management. The acquisition is a strategic move for ENGIE Zielona Energia as it expands its renewable energy portfolio in Poland.
In a separate transaction in Italy, BayWa r.e. has transferred development rights for the Vallelunga wind farm project to Sirio Rinnovabili s.r.l., with Alerion as the future producer. Authorized in January 2025, the project is anticipated to have a capacity of 48.8 MW, generating about 120 GWh of electricity annually—sufficient to meet the energy demands of around 45,000 households.
The Vallelunga project will cover several municipalities in Sicily, with a grid connection planned in Cammarata. BayWa r.e. has guided the project to a mature development stage, while Alerion will be responsible for final design, construction, and installation phases.
Dr. Daniel Gaefke, COO of BayWa r.e., commented that these transactions not only illustrate the company’s robust development pipeline but also reflect its capacity to collaborate effectively with various international and local partners.
